Visit to Carr Gate Police Complex

Engaging with police training in Wakefield

This term, Leeds West Academy’s Public Services group visited the Carr Gate Police Complex in Wakefield. Amenities at Carr Gate included state of the art firearms ranges, indoor and outdoor public order areas, a firearms skills house, driver maneuvering area, classrooms, a gym, a canteen and much more.

Students were really impressed with what the complex had to offer and really enjoyed all the activities including meeting the police horses and dogs. They also heard talks about the different police departments and learnt about how to get involved in training.

PC Chambers said: “This was a great opportunity for the students to get a real feel for policing. They all behaved phenomenally and I am sure we have some amazing future police officers at Leeds West Academy.”
