Rachel Kilburn Bio
Acting Associate Assistant Principal - Curriculum Implementation
Rachel Kilburn graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in English language and literature. The following year, she completed her PGCE in Secondary English at Leeds Trinity University.
Rachel began her teaching career in Calderdale and Kirklees, including at Colne Valley High School where she was Key Stage Three Co-ordinator for English. In September 2017, she joined the Leeds West Academy team and has been an integral member of staff since. In 2018, Rachel was appointed Curriculum Leader for English and in the years since has developed a strong team, who have secured the best ever results for Leeds West students at GCSE-level and an exciting curriculum encompassing a wide-range of historical, geographical and thematic content.
She is passionate about educational pedagogy and how that can be used within the classroom to ensure that all students are able to achieve, make progress, and enjoy their education. As an Associate Assistant Principal, she is committed to ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education, including personalised experiences, purposeful marking and feedback, and an engaging and diverse curriculum.
Rachel lives in Halifax with her partner, Kieran, and her three pets: Pepper, Pond, and River.
