Student Volunteer Police Cadets
A spirit of adventure with good citizenship
Students from Leeds City Academy and Leeds West Academy were among 80 young police cadets from across the region who took part in their attestation at West Yorkshire Police Training Facility on Sunday 10th December.
Dressed in full police uniform, Jack (LCA) and Jasmine (LWA) both received their award of Volunteer Police Cadet of the Month in front of parents, friends and family, who watched proudly as the students also performed the drill parade and swore on oath.
PC Berrell said: “We have a number of students from Leeds City Academy and Leeds West Academy enrolled within the programme.
At the attestation, they all looked the part, were excellent at drill and made both their parents and myself very proud. Their commitment and attitude to this programme is outstanding and it is clear to see how much they are enjoying it and what they are getting from it.
Members of staff are already commenting on the change they have seen in these students! They are developing into confident young people who have the desire to be a part of their community and make a difference to others.”
The nationally recognised police uniformed youth group, the Volunteer Police Cadets, is for young people aged 13-18 years. The purpose is not to recruit police officers of the future but to encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship amongst its members.
