Sports Presentation Evening Celebrates Wonderful Achievements!

It was fantastic to welcome so many parents, siblings, and students to our Sports Presentation Evening to celebrate the achievements of all our students this academic year.

There was an amazing atmosphere as we shared stories about each of our teams and all of their highs and lows. It has been a hugely successful year for the PE department, with us participating in more sports than ever, having more than 200 students playing in fixtures as well as winning several Leeds and County competitions.

Additionally, we have had a record number of girls’ teams across an array of sports with silverware won in rugby and football. It has been a pleasure to provide a provision of activities for so many students after two years of restrictions, helping many discover talents and interests in new sports. A huge thank you to Tom Holroyd and Muizz Mustapha of Leeds Rhinos for attending and handing students their certificates and awards. We can't wait to achieve even more next year!

"Sam has played a prestigious role in the success of the Year 8 Rugby Team. Being captain of the team, Sam has demonstrated great resilience and determination to help the team reach the semi-finals of the Yorkshire Plate, as well as winning the Leeds Rhino's 9s Super League at Headingley Stadium. Not only does Sam play extremely well he also helps motivate and support his teammates around him. The Year 8 team had an unbelievable season, winning 23/24 games, and with Sam we hope to pick up where we left off in the next season." - Mr Hammond

"I am really happy I got awarded the Male Athlete of the Year. It has been a great season for me and the team and I'm really glad I got to captain the boys this season. I can't wait for next season." - Sam

Female Athlete of the Year – Lottie

"Lottie won this year's Female Athlete of the Year due to her commitment to the Girls’ Football Team. Her dedication and resilience through winter months at training shone through at the U12 girls' final. Lottie scored a hattrick with the first goal in under 30 seconds of kick off. She is a true team player, instils confidence into the other girls and is an absolute pleasure to train." - Miss Cooper

"I am so proud of all the team as well as myself. I really appreciate this award and can't wait for next year’s football season!" - Lottie

Team of the Year – U12 Girls’ Football

"The Girls Football Team won the Team of the Year due to their impressive effort in the Leeds Schools Cup. They played 10 fixtures in one night at a tournament held at Ralph Thorsby and from this progressed to the quarter and semi-finals. They then went on the win the final in May to become the Leeds Schools' Champions. I am so proud of the effort the team have put in this year, nothing has held them back through injury and illness, and they still keep striving to be the best." - Miss Cooper

Achievement of the Year – Year 8 Boys’ Rugby

"Our Year 8 Boys’ Rugby Team won our Achievement of the Year at Sports Presentation Evening. They have worked incredibly hard and won the Rhinos 9s Super League final at Headingley Stadium. On top of this, they won the Hunslet plate and became semi-finalists in the Yorkshire Plate competition. We can’t wait to see how the team progresses next year." - Mr Hammond
