GCSE Results Day 2021

GCSE Results Day at Leeds West Academy!

Today we welcomed our Year 11 students to the academy to receive their GCSE results, following an unprecedented year in education.  We are pleased to have secured steady improvement across all attainment measures. This year 60% of our students achieved both English and Maths at Grade 4 or above; a 7% improvement in the number of students achieving standard pass grades in key subjects. In addition to this, 38% of students achieved the higher national standard of grades 5 – 9 in both English and Maths, which has improved by 4% compared to previous years.

Our staff were grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate with students today and would like to congratulate them for all that they have achieved during their time at Leeds West Academy.

Mr Whieldon, Principal, said, “Congratulations to our amazing Year 11 students for a great set of results. As a year group you have shown such resilience and perseverance in the face of extraordinary challenges and uncertainties over the past 18 months. We are very proud of you all, well done.”

Mr Wilcocks, Executive Principal, commented this morning: “There is no doubt that the grades achieved by our students at Leeds West Academy are thoroughly deserved.  The last few years of study during the pandemic has presented so many challenges for our young people, but their resilience and determination, combined with the hard work, unconditional care, and resourcefulness of staff, has resulted in a great set of results.

“There are so many personal triumphs of which we are so very proud.  On behalf of the Trust, I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to students and staff for all you have achieved, as Leeds West Academy goes from strength to strength.”

Well done to all our Year 11 students. Remember, Once White Rose, Always White Rose!
