Castleford Tigers scholarship for LWA Student
Congratulations to Jack who will soon be starting with the Castleford Tigers scholarship programme
Leeds West Academy are delighted to support Jack in Year 10 who will soon begin a scholarship programme with renowned rugby league club the Castleford Tigers.
After a rigorous selection process, Jack was offered a place to join the programme in late-2020 which was then postponed due to lockdown restrictions.
The scholarship programme, which is part of Castleford Tigers youth department, has previously supported many young players who have gone on to graduate through the ranks and become professional players. This means that Jack will potentially be joining the likes of Jacques O’Neil, Lewis Peachey, Brad Graham, Bailey Hodgson and other promising talent.
"I am so proud of Jack for getting to this point,” said Jack’s mum. “A couple of years ago, this was probably not possible. Jack was finding mainstream school really difficult and he became quite down to the point that it affected the whole family. But worse than that, it affected his passion for rugby and he was not training at the level he is now.
“Leeds West Academy have supported Jack to access an education programme, alongside his rugby, that has meant that his needs are fully supported. Jack is now happy, focused and training hard. Because of the support he received, in partnership with Leeds City College, Jack was offered this scholarship at Castleford Tigers. I can't thank staff at LWA enough for investing their time with Jack. He is now smiling, happy and putting his all into his future rugby career. He is a changed lad!"
Mr Garner, Associate Assistant Principal of the White Rose Academies Trust, said: “Jack is an incredibly talented sportsman. I am delighted, after hard work and dedication, that he has succeeded in securing such a competitively sought-after Scholarship. Jack is a passionate player, and I am excited for him and proud. Well done, Jack!"
