Vice Principal - Inclusion
Originally from the USA, Beth graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in English Teaching and graduated summa cum laude. Shortly after, she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching: Secondary Education. She moved to the UK in 2007 after fulfilling her lifelong ambition to travel solo around Europe. Beth has been an English teacher and senior leader in several schools across England, including Leeds West Academy in 2017. In 2022, when the opportunity arose for Beth to come back, she jumped at the chance to be a part of the Leeds West community again.
As a Future Leader, Beth has the unswerving belief that schools can eradicate disadvantage. She is passionate about social equality and wants all students to lead happy and successful lives, regardless of background. Beth recognises that all children may have a learning, wellbeing or safeguarding need at some point, and it is through strong relationships, professional expertise and personalisation that these needs can be recognised and barriers can be removed. As Vice Principal for Inclusion and Personal Development, Beth is a champion for strong community links, an ethos of support and challenge where all students can achieve success, and equity in the curriculum.
When Beth is not at school, she can be found hiking the Lakeland fells or the Yorkshire Dales, running on the Leeds to Liverpool canal towpath or pulling up weeds in her allotment.
