Nikki Ryder was appointed to the role of Vice Principal at Leeds West Academy in January 2017. Nikki leads on key areas of teaching and learning, ensuring all students receive a high quality education in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Nikki began her career at The Farnley Academy and quickly progressed to Head of Post-16 and Strategic Leader of Geography. The school made rapid progress and has recently been globally recognised, gaining world class status from being a 'national challenge school'. In 2012 Nikki gained a promotion to Head of Humanities Faculty at Immanuel College Bradford, where she led rapid improvement in order to secure students' outcomes which were in line with national averages from a significantly negative position.
In 2013 Nikki developed a consultancy business where she supported improving teachers across Calderdale and ran whole school CPD sessions. She also supported developments in literacy and ran the outstanding teacher program across the authority. Most recently, Nikki was appointed Assistant Principal in charge of teaching and learning at Bruntcliffe Academy. This Academy has been recognised as the most improved school for two years running, moving Progress 8 from -0.59 to +0.03.
Nikki is absolutely passionate in ensuring all students, regardless of their background, learning needs or abilities make exceptional progress. She is looking forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure Leeds West Academy can truly accelerate its journey to becoming an outstanding school; a beacon of education.
