Ailsa Campbell qualified as an English teacher after a six-year career working in the Travel Industry. She began teaching at Shelley College, an outstanding school in Kirklees, and three years after qualifying became an Advanced Skills Teacher, working across a number of schools in the region.
Ailsa moved to Garforth Academy in Leeds where she led a successful department and became an accredited Outstanding Facilitator for the Improving and Outstanding Teacher Programmes. Leading the coaching and CPD Programmes at Garforth Academy, she moved the judgement of Teaching, Learning and Assessment from good to outstanding.
Qualifying as a Specialist Leader for Education in 2012, she provided leadership support in a number of schools within the SPTA before taking up an Assistant Principal post with specific responsibility for Teaching and Learning. In 2014, she was appointed as a Director of Learning for the White Rose Academies Trust, where she led teaching and learning and, along with the senior leadership team, took Leeds East Academy out of serious weaknesses.
Ailsa became Senior Vice Principal at Leeds West Academy in September 2016, and is committed to ensuring that all students across the White Rose Academies Trust receive the highest quality teaching so that they enter the next stage of their education with GCSE results which will give them the life choices and opportunities they deserve.
