Upcoming Engage Evening

GCSE Exam Buster Revision Engage Evening: Wednesday 28th March

Our GSCE Exam Buster Revision Skills Engage Evening will be taking place on Wednesday 28th March from 5.30pm-7pm.

The evening aims to support parents in developing confidence, skills, knowledge and understanding required to support their child in learning at home.

The Exam Buster session is available for the parents of Leeds West Academy students in Years 10, 11 and Sixth Form to attend and will be delivered by the external provider ‘Positively MAD’.  Positively MAD has developed a formidable reputation in education over the last 17 years as one of the country's leading providers of student workshops, teacher training and world-class supportive resources.

The session will be an interactive and multisensory learning experience.  Strategies will be shared with parents and their child regarding how to work together to prepare for the examination period.  Participants will be equipped with a range of very effective learning tools and exam preparation skills.

In the Dining Room there will be a ‘marketplace’ where there will be a range of resources, information and advice linked to specific subjects that your child may be studying.  These will be manned by the Heads of Faculty and Subject Leaders who can offer specific advice on revision for you and your child.  Representatives from Careers Advice will also be in attendance.

Finally, parents and students will be introduced to ‘GCSEPod’. This is an online resource Leeds West Academy has purchased for students in Year 11 and 10 and supports the development of subject knowledge in a range of subjects.  Students can access this learning from a range of devices including smart phone devices.

Mr Zeb added: "At Leeds West Academy, we greatly value and recognise the importance of engagement with families as a key strategy for improving the levels of attainment and the overall progress made by all of our students.  As a parent or carer, you have the greatest influence on the achievement of your child and therefore we hope that you and your family will join us at this event."
