More Victories for Leeds West Academy
March has been a very busy month for sports at Leeds West Academy, with victories in rugby, football and netball.
On 15th March, Leeds West Academy's Year 7 Rugby team played in the quarterfinals of the Yorkshire Plate against Kingswood Academy from Hull.
Mr Booth reports: "We were finally drawn at home which allowed supporters to come and get behind the team. The game started evenly with both teams scoring back-to-back tries, but as the game progressed, Leeds West Academy ran away with the victory, with a final score of 46 - 22. The boys were superb and worked tirelessly to come away with the victory. All the boys played very well, with stand out performances from Korey and Ben. If you see the team, please congratulate them."
Not to be outdone by the rugby team, Leeds West Academy's football team, now down to 8 men due to the rugby fixture, came away with a fantastic 5-2 victory against Leeds East Academy on the same evening.
Mr Noutch said: "Great resilience and spirit was shown by the boys who were 2-1 down at halftime. The team staged a fantastic comeback that Barcelona would have be proud of to score 4 unanswered goals. Again if you see any of the boys today please congratulate them on an amazing performance."
On Thursday 16th March, The Leeds West Warriors continued to blaze a trail of rugby success, winning three games: Allerton High 4-2, Leeds City Academy 8-0 and South Leeds 4-3. Mr Long said: "The Year 9 boys were extremely supportive to each other, showing true grit and determination throughout. It was a joy to take them to the game."
Earlier in the month, Year 8 Netballers scored a victory against Farnley Academy, winning 16-7. Ms Davey said: "Mya and Keisha were on fire, rarely missing a shot on goal. Becky, Leah, Maisie and Charlotte also worked well together in the middle of the court. In defence, Demi, Kiana (Player of the match) and Holly played brilliantly - fighting to keep the ball away from the Farnley attackers. The players all did Leeds West Academy proud!"
Mr Long evaluated: "We've seen some incredible play this term, demonstrating resilience and determination against some powerful teams across the region. Well done to everybody and keep up this exceptional standard, as the competition is only going to get harder!"
