Cheerleading Trip to Disneyland Paris

Performing with professionals in Paris

Before the Easter break, 48 cheerleaders from Leeds West Academy took part in a competition for 'FC Brings It On' in Disneyland Paris.

The group entered nine different categories and came home with nine trophies including four second places. The girls were competing against professional cheerleaders from all around the world and met some amazing people.

During the stay, the girls got to perform in the Disney parade, meeting endless Disney characters and spending some of their free time exploring the Disney Park and going on the rides. They enjoyed their evening meals in some beautiful restaurants in the parks/hotels and the Disney Village.

Ms Johnston added: “This is a memory that will last a lifetime for the staff and students involved.”

Read what our students had to say:

"The team is made up of an amazing bunch of girls.  I will miss my cheer family and will always remember our successful team and take my experiences through life and onto University.  I’m very sad that it was my last competition with the LWA Starlights."  Leah in Year 13.

"The time in Paris was amazing; it was an incredible experience for everyone in the squad. My favourite part was the competition as it was a new experience for our Year 7 squad and my first experience as their coach."  Ellie in Year 10.

"I just wanted to take the time to say the biggest possible thank you to all the staff who made Disneyland so magical! This will be an experience that I will never forget.  Ever since I joined cheer you have all made me feel so welcome.  I have the best second family anyone could ever imagine.  I love you all so much"  Olivia in Year 7.
