The aim in Science is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to engage with new ideas and explore what interests them.
Core to our approach is the idea that students should be able to learn through practical experiences and investigation. Topics are themed to encourage students to think about how Science influences the world around them and how it will shape their lives and futures.
Science has a large range of equipment to help enrich lessons from Year 7 to Year 13; this year we have added an interactive wildlife garden to be used for lessons and after-school enrichment. We offer a variety of activities for all Years, including Astronomy, Wildlife Gardening and STEM Club; there are also seven different revision and support classes that run throughout the year.
We have made a big move towards widening pupil choices in Science and offer three different GCSE Options (Combined Science, Separate Sciences and Entry Level Science), along with two pathways at KS5 (A Level and BTEC), supported by a Level 2 pathway. Every student can access the Science curriculum and everyone has a tailored curriculum to meet their needs.
