Leeds West Academy

Ethos and Values

Our Six Core Values and Expectations

At the centre of everything we do at Leeds West Academy are our Six Core Values:

Facing challenges with courage and determination.

Building confidence in our ability to succeed.

Celebrating equality by valuing ourselves and others.

Meeting Academy expectations in everything we do.

Being involved in lessons and contributing to our wider community.

Having the vision and ambition to reach our full potential.

We uphold our values every day through our Academy Expectations:

We are Positive
We have a can-do attitude.

We are Polite
We conduct ourselves with kindness and respect.

We are Prepared
We arrive at each lesson fully-equipped and ready to learn.

We are Punctual
We arrive on time, every time.

We are Proactive
We challenge ourselves as learners.

At Leeds West Academy we offer: A learning community where every learner succeeds, is valued, and makes a positive contribution.

We achieve this vision through:

  • An outstanding and radical curriculum
  • Outstanding support for students with additional educational needs
  • Additional opportunities to extend and enhance our curriculum
  • Mentoring for all
  • Great teaching
  • A proper partnership with parents and carers
  • A commitment to local communities

Above all, we care deeply about young people and we believe that all of them can succeed at the highest level. Our job is to find the best way to support students in achieving to the best of their ability. We are proud of our values and we try to express these through our work with young people – our young people helped create our core values.

We really do think differently, seize opportunity, work cooperatively and unlock potential. We are excited about our future as an Academy and we are determined that the achievements and the attainment of our students will go from strength to strength.
